To take flyweights up to fight against big boys might look unfair at a first glance. But we do it anyway. And we don’t even bother about our protegee, as he is capable to K.O. any of its opponents. Keep the ring ready for Lambda Labs subwoofers. Keep the ring ready for the revolutionary Digitalhorn DH-18. What we are giving to take with him aren’t horseshoes in a boxing glove, but practical ideas combined with sophisticated FEA analyses, a lot of patience and then again lots of know-how. The result is a state of the art subwoofer system with unique qualifications in all around the world: A subwoofer system with A0 note capability. The Digitalhorn delivers spectacular levels through the whole operating range down to the lowest octave, with simultaneously tightly controlled impulse response. The construction is based on a series of finite horn segments that doesn’t exhibit any expansion to each other, instead it uses discontinuous steps the so called digital horn segments. Due to the mathematical optimization of the acoustic transformers, a uniformly high radiation impedance is reached through the whole useful bandwidth, which gives maximum flexibility and a wide range of application to the Digitalhorn with extreme output reserves. The DH-18 attains no more than 58.5 kg fighting weight and with its compact dimensions of 96.2 x 96.2 x 58.2 cm it is more than just good to handle. And that was especially essential to us – as, after all, the well- engineered horn design shall not only be easy to set up single or in big stacks. Even the change between the two different operation modes of the Digitalhorn should be done within the glimpse of an eye. Two modes of operation in one enclosure to contemporarily face up to questions such as Output vs. Truckspace or just even lower bass reproduction in a pioneering way. In the so called directivity mode (D-mode) the DH-18 achieves an extraordinary high efficiency, as the acoustic energy is directed forwards even in a single stack already without losing headroom. Therefore, ideal for all applications demanding a high directivity and a quick solution for a quiet stage. All this without special DSP processing or time-consuming building of arrays. If you now still have some more DH-18 left, you will have a front-to-back ratio of 6dB at 30Hz, already starting with a stack of two forming a wide cardioid radiation pattern. One and a half octave higher, at 80 Hz this changes to hypercardioid with a side SPL reduction of 6 dB and a much greater rear attenuation. The Space Mode (S-mode) finally extends the stacking possibilities along with a lower corner frequency, whereby an even heftier Infrabass reproduction down to 28 Hz can be achieved. Heart of the DH-18 is a carefully developed 18" heavy-duty horn driver, which gives phenomenal sound pressure levels, extraordinarily dynamics and finest resolution along with tightly controlled impulse response to this exceptional subwoofer at the same time. As all Lambda Labs products, the DH-18 comes also coated with High-Density Polyurethane. And that really helps to hide quite a lot. Totally clear. The pattern is as simple as proven. Not to take half-measures is the name of the game. And in case of doubt better more than less. That rocks the world. Or is this merely a question of perspective? Perhaps we may introduce you our point of view? A yet undiscovered 10" dimension under the magnifying glass, the TX-1A. Take a good look but above all listen carefully. Our smallest loudspeaker among the TX series with its 54 cm height and 15.4 kg weight, indeed turns out to be an undreamt powerhouse on minimal space and defines efficiency, sound capacity and dynamic range of modern tops in an utterly new way. Its advance is owed to the consistent bit of most advanced simulation models in synthesis with most exemplary materials but not least to its substantial overhead development time, which implies to our innovative solution approaches. An overhead which we willingly accept for achievements like ergonomic finger eyes, a soundwise impeccable but thus multifunctional enclosure or a steplessly adjustable one click & fly hardware. Just the kick of the TX-1 recoups us superabundantly. The ideal equipping, consisting of a 10" long excursion driver and a polyester membrane compression driver, is fed by two integrated DSP amplifying modules with each 800 and 200 watts RMS and guarantees maximum headroom. However in order to coequally enhance the first class sound reproduction of our subwoofers at the higher-frequency range is just one side of the story. Laid at your feet with its 24 and 44 degree monitor angle in near or far sound field, the TX-1 cuts a fine figure as well as compact fullrange speaker with a most impressive output and powerful, rich bass reproduction. Anywhere where space plays an important role but more than just loud and audiophile sound is required, the TX-1 is the first choice. We didn’t count them yet. But in any case there are a lot of two way 12" loudspeakers out there. And some of them raise the bar pretty high. However in order to provide the audience with a new and impressive listening experience and likewise underline performance and multifunctionality, the Lambda Labs engineers hit the trail to find the TX-2A. And they found it. But not on an out stamped trail, but on new methodical and systematical trails. To exemplarily assimilate the TX-series to our high demands, the TX-2A takes those properties as a basis, which were always important at Lambda Labs and which coin this first class family in its entirety and which denote their great success. Therefore the shapely design and likewise multifunctional top doesn’t only allow most variable installation possibilities right up to a premium monitor, but rather works against partial swinging due to the protracted vibration analyses. Beneath such rather complex and iterative methods, on the way of optimizing one’s products, at odd times one encounter such refreshingly easy and natural solution processes, which ideally and resource-conserving find their place in our product line. Therefore, due to the used Cheviot sheep’s wool, the enclosures are capable to suppress standing waves highly efficient, what brings an immense soundwise advantage precisely within the fundamental frequency range between 100 to 500Hz. And because we really don’t want to accept any soundwise loss, the TX-2A, as all other Lambda Labs loudspeakers, is handed over with a tonally high transparent and especially resistant front mesh, which makes every front foam look old by comparison, or rather sound old, in the true sense of the word. Owing to the precise algorithms of the internal signal processor and the well elaborated architecture of the chassis, the 12" top TX-2 finally succeeds with the acoustical 2-way / 3-way “quantum leap”. The mathematically modeled enclosure provides such a precise impulse reproduction to this highly compact loudspeaker, which is usually only reached by high end 3-way designs. 3-way solutions which after that doesn’t only weight 16.5 kg and which are not put expressly on a stand with an inclinable stand flange, reaching such outrageous levels in top or full range mode. An ally musician expressed it really bonny after the first setup: “In any way no way to much.” To our joy, the TX-2A is able to more than just bringing easily so much driving forth on two ways. For example to glare especially in the lowmid reproduction. The decisive cause therefor is the first class developed 12" long excursion driver with its 3" voice coil, which oscillates equiphasely up to the upper midrange. Starting first from 1400Hz, the generously dimensioned compression driver works into an elliptical constant-directivity horn wherefore this uniform directivity with likewise relieved high frequency unit can be granted. Precisely for a 2-way design, minimal intermodulation distortions are the guarantor for a clean speech reproduction, with what the TX-2 predestinates for every speech and live application, and even due to its compactness, it also fits into the musical general view in fixed installations for clubs, concert halls and gala events. With the integrated 800 plus 200 Watt RMS DSP amplifying modules, you are technically speaking at the touch of a button from an impressive plug-and-play display. Allow us to recommend the calibre 15 inch or more precisely the TX-3A’s calibre 15 inch. There may be no need yet for a gun license, true. However, its lightness, SPL capability and dead-on precision do hit the bull’s eye. Just don’t be afraid! Feel free to play your most audiophile track. At once, the threeway speaker TX-3A unfolds its entire arsenal of performance and almost limitless dynamic range. Sound and taste are famously open to dispute, but the continuous reactions of delight to our demonstrations of the TX series, particularly the TX-3A, confirm our extended and meticulous development work. And whenever this speakers 3D depth is compared to illustrious hifi-products, well, that makes us even happier. Coaxial high-mid frequency unit, stands for a brilliant and transparent sound reproduction allowing at the same time for the highest linearity and a faithfully detailed stereo imaging. Sometimes we are even forced to pull some plugs during a demo to prove to the righteously skeptical listener, that there are indeed only two of the four TX-3A playing right now, or that subwoofers ready for demonstration are actually disconnected. There is an obvious reason for this: Given the compact dimensions of 29.2 x 17.4 x 19.3 inch and an incredibly light weight of 59.5 lbs, a first glance at the TX-3A could very well lead one to underestimate the largest loudspeaker of the TX series, rather than expecting such a tremendous output and low frequency reproduction. The cause is complex. The 15" long excursion driver with enormous power handling does not need to rely on additional sub bass reinforcement to deliver the lowest frequencies while having unique impulse response. This unit alone is driven by a 1600 Watt RMS amplifier module. Finally, two additional 200 Watt RMS amplifiers in the high and mid frequency range turns the TX-3A into a genuine tri-amp loudspeaker. To achieve the high resolution and precise acoustic pattern, the low frequency speaker crosses over at as low as 700Hz from where the coaxial True Point Source high-mid frequency unit’s 3.5" and 1.75" coils takes over the job. A crossover of such low frequency results in an exceptionally smooth and well defined radiation pattern, since beaming effects and partial vibrations of the 15" chassis are starting far above its transmission range. The elliptical Constant Directivity horn gives the TX-3A its extremely even directivity down to 1kHz with a nominal coverage angle of 50° x 50°, making its use possible even under the most difficult acoustic conditions. Using FIR filters and Dual Range Converters tops off the TX-3A’s total package. Our constant goal, uniting the greatest possible versatility in one product, is as much as possible realized in this fullrange speaker as it is the case in all of the loudspeakers in the TX series. Consistency in the Coherent Wavefront Design and the straightforward rigging allow for the TX-3A to be combined into a horizontal array in almost no time, and whenever things need to be more down to earth, it will serve just as well as a high end monitor in the near and farfield. As you can see, the TX-3A is capable of quite a lot. Would you even sleep better if you kept it underneath your pillow?
